The Corporation

The Corporation is a Canadian documentary about modern business ethics, weighing in at a hefty 145 minutes it is both in depth and informative. The film is divided into 40 chapters and covers every aspect of the corporation from its roots in the mid 1800's and how the corporation emerged as a legal person due to an act passed to grant slaves rights to how this "legal person" has the characteristics of a psychopath, which is assed via the criteria used by the World Health Organization and is a standard diagnostic tool of psychiatrists.

To how the emergence of The Corporation has lead to unprecedented wealth for these conglomerates and the price civilization and the environment has had to pay.

It also covers company's such as I.B.M and the part they played in the Holocaust and Coca-Cola's support of the Nazi party getting into power; And how these companies, and companies like Ford, amongst others profited from both sides during the second world war. Also sighted are many other corporate wrongs such as the Monsanto debacle and it's attempted cover up by Fox news Corp.

Advertising and the $22 billion spent by the Initiative Corporation, placing their clients advertising in every media imaginable, worldwide each year is another topic discussed with light shed upon their "Nag Factor" study which was designed not to help parents cope with children's nagging, but instead, to help corporations formulate their adverts and promotions more efficiently.

Also touched upon is brands can build cities such as Celebration city in Florida ( built by the Pfizer corporation) and how two University students got a multinational to sponsor their studies. and how even the rights to the song "Happy Birthday" are owned by a multi National who charge for it to be used on film.
