Mandala & Yantra

A Mandala is a complex symbol that’s can be seen as a cosmic diagram showing the complexities of life and the universe and is used to remind us that our relationship to the universe extends from within and to beyond our minds and bodies, and are seen as lucky charms.

The word Mandal is taken from Sanskrit, translated it means "circle", as it represents a the "whole" universe.

One form of Mandla is a Yantra, there are two types of Yantra a pictorial Yantra which is a symbolic diagram, usually used to assist meditation and a numerological Yantra.

The word "Yantra" is derived from two Sanskrit words - "Yam" means "to support" and "Trana" means "freedom".

The act of drawing and painting yantras teaches the mind how to concentrate, how to be one-pointed. To some people this practice is fascinating and absorbing, while others might not find it as interesting as doing calligraphy or singing, but creating a yantra can yield a valuable lesson.

Yantra drawing requires accuracy, exactness, discipline, concentration, neatness and patience. The geometrical forms of the yantra activate the right hemisphere, which is visual and nonverbal.
