As fire produce heat, heat produce fire. It is same about kundalini. When your mind is purified, kundalini ascents. When kundalini is awaken, the mind evolves. All Spiritual practices are based on either of these principles.
The more natural types of yogas like Bhakti yoga, Jnana yoga (Brahma vidya) etc. are based on the first. Seekers on these paths doesn’t need to know the word 'Kundalini'.
The practices are all aimed to purify the mind. Everything else happens automatically.
This paths are suited only for matured souls. On the other hand, based on the second principle Hatha yoga, Kriya yoga, Tantra etc. stresses on rising the Kundalini forcefully through regular practice other than working with the mind.
They are the artificial techniques for rising the energy. These practices opens up chakras and Nadis and make positive changes in a person’s attitude.
All the virtues that are required to attain Moksha comes to yogi through dedicated regular practice. Other than these safe, time tested methods there are ways to rise the energy; at least a little bit temporarily.
They are: Drugs, Trance dance and Trance Music (Depends on your concentration), Long Running, Physical torture, Intense group Prayers etc.
But note that when the energy serpent is aroused without purifying the mind. It can only rise through impurities and imagination of mind.
It will no way lead to liberation. And when drugs are used so frequently the high voltage of Kundalini damages and depresses the unprepared nerves.
