Hindu's belive that if Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of Wealth, light, wisdom, prosperity, fertility, generosity and courage is worshipped sincerely & without greed she will bless the worshipper with Success and fortune and will protect her devotees from all misery and money related sorrows.

The most prevalent day for worshiping Lakshmi is a Friday, and October is the most focused month for Lakshmi worship.

She is not only worshipped in temples, but at home also. Lakshmi is most worshipped around the festival of Diwali, which celebrates the story of Lord Ramas battle with Ravana the demon, this story is known as "Ramayana."

Lakshmi is the consort of Vishnu & her steed is an elephant Lakshmi is the embodiment of Grace, charm & beauty. Her rebirth is told in the Hindu myth "churning of the milky ocean". Lakshmi is usually pictured as a beautiful woman, standing or sitting on a lotus flower with four arms and coins falling from her hands, she is also often pictured at the under Vishnu massaging his feet. In her carnations as Sita, Radha and Rukmini she as married to Rama and Krishna respectively.

Lakshmi is known under many different names, these include Prakruti, Vikruti, Vidya and Rama. Lakshmi is also part of the Ashta Lakshmi, eight goddesses who preside over Wealth in all it's forms. The Ashta Lakshmi are said to be eight manifestations of the goddess Lakshmi and are: Adi Lakshmi, Dhana Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santana Lakshmi, Veera Lakshmi, Vidya Lakshmi and Vijaya Lakshimi.

There is also a star of Lakshmi which is depicted as two square at 45 degrees of one another with the same centre.
