Brahama‏

Brahama created the universe and all the creatures that live in it. He is the first god in the Hindu triumvirate, but should not be confused with Brahamn who is the supreme god force present n all things. There are only two temples in India devoted to worshipping Brahama today and he is the least worshipped of the triumvirate.

According to legend Brahma is not well worshipped because of a curse by the great sage Brahmarishi Bhrigu put upon Brahma preventing him from being invoked or worshipped by mortals.

Representing North, South, east and West, Brahma has four heads, one for each of the Vedas he also has four arms, and is usually seen sporting a beard which represents the ongoing process of creation. His vehicle is a divine swan which represents discernment and grace. His consort is Saraswati the godess of knowledge and learning. He is the father of Manu, from who all Hindus are descendants.

At the beginning of creation Brahma created eleven prajapatis who all the human race is born from, he also created seven wise men to help him with the reaction of the universe. It is said that Brahma was born out of a lotus flower which grew in Vishnu's belly button
